Postcolonial literatures have undoubtedly been founded, amongst other things, on the notion of ?writing back?. Generally speaking, the concept of rewriting is far from being exclusive to postcolonial literatures, but should be contextualized in wider concepts regarding various forms of communication within literature and the ways in which texts speak to texts, such as classical imitatio or postmodern intertextuality.
